Sortieren unter Emacs

Hallo,

I have a file in fasta format which has a couple of entries

>ID
firstproteinsequence

>ID
nextproteinsequence

...

ID has been changed by myself and has now Names of the animals where the
sequence has been derived from. To exclude douplets I would like to sort
the whole file according to ID. In the menu of emacs I dont see any sort
entry. How do sort files?
